Course Objective:
This paper
shall help students to understand some important concepts and practices of
entrepreneurship and induce them to undertake entrepreneurship as a career.
UNIT 1: (15 Marks)
Introduction – The
Entrepreneur – Definition; Evolution of the term entrepreneur, who is an
entrepreneur, entrepreneur and enterprise, entrepreneurs and managers, behavioural
pattern of entrepreneurs.
UNIT 2: (20
Marks)
Competing Theories of Entrepreneurship
– Definitions of entrepreneurship, characteristics of entrepreneurship, A
conventional model, views of Schumpeter, Walker and Drucker. Theories of entrepreneurship,
The theory of invisible cost or the theory of transaction cost.
UNIT 3: (25
Marks)
Entrepreneurship and
Economic Development: Factors impeding the growth of entrepreneurship, how to encourage
entrepreneurship;
Prospects, problems and
solutions for entrepreneurial development (with special reference to North
East). Industrial Policies of the state of Assam
UNIT 4: (20
Marks)
Entrepreneurial Development Programmes
in India: entrepreneurial development programmes – their relevance and
achievements, role of government in organising such programmes.

COURSE
OUTCOME: The course will
make an attempt to induce entrepreneurship in the students. Students will be
able to understand role of entrepreneurs for the development of the economy.
The practical aspects of how to become an entrepreneur will be taught.
